Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry has been integral to dental care for over 50 years. We use the dental laser to treat periodontal (gum) disease and sometimes even to assist with treatment procedures like dental fillings.

Dr. Bowden also uses NightLase® laser treatment to gently open airways for clear breathing at night, relieving patients from snoring or conditions like sleep apnea. For more information on our solutions for sleep apnea, contact our Lake Oswego dental office at (503) 675-7300

Nitrous Oxide

If you have ever felt anxiety or fear about visiting the dentist, nitrous oxide may be a solution to help you feel more at ease in the dental chair.

We can use nitrous oxide during most procedures. It helps to alleviate anxiety, "takes the edge off," and helps you to feel more comfortable. Best of all, there are typically no lingering side effects, and patients can drive afterward and continue their normal activities.

If you believe that nitrous oxide might help you feel more comfortable during dental treatment, talk with Dr. Bowden about your options.

lake oswego dentist | panoramic x-ray

Panoramic X-Ray/CBCT

A panoramic x-ray gives Dr. Bowden an entire view of your teeth, jawbone, and jaw joints in one image. This x-ray is helpful when diagnosing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems and planning for oral surgeries or orthodontic treatment.

We recommend updating a panoramic x-ray every five years as a baseline for joint, tooth, and bone health.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are an invaluable tool Dr. Bowden uses to diagnose treatment needs and common concerns like tooth decay or gum disease as early as possible. Early diagnosis allows patients to choose less invasive and less costly treatment procedures in some cases.

Digital images give Dr. Bowden an internal look at your smile and show things that the naked eye can miss. This is why we recommend bite-wing x-rays once a year, ensuring that we keep a baseline of your teeth to protect your dental health.

VELscope

Did you know that oral cancer is responsible for the equivalent of one death per hour, 24 hours a day? This silent killer can be very hard to detect on your own because it often looks similar to common problems like cold sores.

VELscope is an oral cancer screening system that utilizes fluorescence visualization to pinpoint areas of concern that the naked eye might miss. Finding areas of concern as early as possible gives you the best prognosis for oral cancer treatment.

Talk with your Lake Oswego dentist about adding VELscope to your preventive exams

Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera provides full-color pictures of your teeth and soft tissues. This pen-sized device fits comfortably in the mouth, allowing us to capture pictures of your teeth and show you any possible areas of concern.

We value patient education and the intraoral camera helps us educate you about your oral health. When you can see what Dr. Bowden sees, it's much easier to understand his treatment recommendations so you can make the best decisions for your smile!

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) provides 3-D imaging of your teeth, jawbone, joints, and sinuses. Working with 3-D imaging allows Dr. Bowden to successfully pre-plan and execute treatment procedures like tooth extraction, dental implants, orthodontics, treatment for TMD, and root canal treatment.

Planning for procedures ahead of time ensures precision and accuracy on the day of treatment, often meaning less time in the dental chair for the patient. At Aesthetic Dentistry of Lake Oswego, we focus on making the patient experience as efficient, pleasant and stress-free as possible!

Digital Impressions

Digital impressions allow us to capture 3-D images of your teeth without using messy and uncomfortable impression material. A quick scan of your teeth offers clear and accurate images Dr. Bowden can use to create custom dental restorations, orthodontic treatment, and oral devices.

Taking impressions digitally is more comfortable for our patients and delivers more precision and accuracy for Dr. Bowden when designing restorations.
